Full Biography
J. David Crisp is the founding member and senior partner of Crisp & Freeze. Mr. Crisp and the firm both enjoy an “A.V.” rating, the highest possible peer-reviewed rating for legal ability and ethical conduct as determined by the Martindale-Hubbell attorney rating service. Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Crisp was a senior partner in the Texarkana law firms of Patton, Haltom, Roberts, McWilliams & Greer and the founder and managing partner of Crisp, Jordan, Boyd, Poff & Burgess, LLP. He has more than 40 years of courtroom experience, trying cases all over the states of Texas and Arkansas, and has prosecuted or defended cases as diverse as international class actions, securities fraud, products liability, pastoral abuse, serious personal injury and wrongful death, and also has defended a number of felony criminal cases, including clients charged with murder.

Mr. Crisp grew up in Howard County, Arkansas, and graduated with highest honors from Nashville Senior High School. He attended San Diego State University in California as a National Science Foundation scholarship recipient and graduated from Ouachita Baptist University, summa cum laude, and was class Valedictorian. Mr. Crisp went on to graduate from the University of Texas Law School (1978) where he was elected as the Permanent Class Officer of his graduating class. He was also selected as the Outstanding Senior Class Member by Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity. He was honored by the faculty with the law school’s highest awards for papers in constitutional and criminal law, served on the International Law Journal, and was co-Editor of the Texas Law Forum.

Mr. Crisp has for many years been recognized as a board-certified attorney in Civil Trial Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and also in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, has been elected a Super Lawyer of Texas on multiple occasions by his peers (as published in Texas Monthly Magazine), is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas and participates in a number of local, regional and national specialty bar associations where he has been a guest lecturer and speaker. He is licensed to practice before the trial courts and supreme courts of the states of Texas and Arkansas, the federal courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Fifth, Eighth and Eleventh United States Circuit Courts of Appeal, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court. He belongs to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Arkansas and Texas State Bars, as well as the Northeast Texas, Southwest Arkansas, and Texarkana (Past-President) Bars. He is a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. His practice is concentrated in commercial litigation, including securities and class actions, and in personal injury, wrongful death, insurance coverage, and felony criminal defense.
